Wu, Zimo walked out of the house at 17:15 on December 28, 2022, playing at the door, while his mother was feeding her second child . Fifteen minutes later, the family went out to search, but they were nowhere to be found. The child was only out of sight of the mother for 15 minutes.
On January 6, 2023, Ms. Wu from Yaobangwan, Shenchi Village, Dawu County, Hubei Province told Zhengguan News that her 6-year-old son Wu Zimo had disappeared nine days ago, and the villagers helped drain four ponds in the village. No trace of the child has been found so far.
