Recently in the Caribbean, a sex trafficking investigation began after the Dominican Consulate received details that a woman was allegedly being held against her will and sex trafficked at an apartment by a known sex trafficking ring. AMERIPOL Colombia and the Dominican National Police (DNP) then got involved.

At the request of the DNP, OUR Rescue stepped in to support their investigational efforts. We provided surveillance support at the apartment in question. The information gathered, including informants who verified that the location was known for illicit sexual activities, helped authorities get a search warrant approved.

In May of this year, the DNP executed that search warrant. When they did, officials found the woman locked in a room inside the apartment. Both of the alleged traffickers were arrested, and the woman was safely removed from the situation. OUR Rescue Survivor Care was on scene to support the woman immediately, providing her with basic needs.

During the operation, DNP officials discovered substantial evidence on the trafficking ring’s logistics, including several names and phone numbers that will be investigated further. Transnational Crimes (DEIDET) and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Illicit Trafficking of Migrants and Human Trafficking are continuing their joint efforts, working to identify additional survivors and dismantle the criminal organization for good.
